This is an early Japanese Imari vase from the last quarter of the 1800's. The leaves and flowers are painted in thick colorful enamels. There are also some gold highlights. The vase is very heavy and stoutly made. It is 10 inches tall and 8 1/2 inches wide. Condition is very good with some expected wear. Still a very fine old display piece.

This is a very refined studio vase from the Meiji era. The subtle colors and detail are truly beautiful. It is signed by one of the Japanese porcelain masters, Nishiura Enji. The work on Mt Fuji is raised relief and give off a three dimensional look. The shape is elegant and the changing colors are vry elusive. The vase stands just over 6 inches tall and is in excellent condition.

This is a wonderful old Japanese Imari charger or tray. It is signed Fukagawa and was made before 1900. The crustacean characters on the piece are quite unique. It has a very old staple repair and this was probably done at least 100 years ago. It is a heavy stout piece and measures 15 1/2 inches across.

This is a very colorful and attractive Japanese Koro. Beautiful enamel work on the Phoenix finishes off this piece very nicely. We are not sure if it is Imari or Kutani. It is signed on the bottom with a mark not known to us and has the remnants of an old import sticker. Also if you look close at the image to the under side, a little crackle can be seen in the glaze. This is a wonderful pre Nippon Japanese footed bowl. This fluted bowl is covered in colorful thick raised enamel work. It measures 9 inches across and is 4 inches tall. I once had a shallow Nippon bowl similar to this piece but it was not as big or as nice. It sold for much more than the starting price. It is a truly beautiful and rare display piece. The bowl is in excellent condition. If you look close to the inner foot rim a small glaze flake can be seen.

This is a beautiful large Japanese Porcelain painted by Bizan. He was one of the Satsuma masters and his works were very much like those of Yabu Meizan. The vase is painted with a continuous scene of people, Lake Biwa and the surrounding countryside. Aside from being beautifully painted, the vase has excellent enamel and gold work. A very rare offering from this great artist. The 12 inch vase is very heavy and a wide profile. Condition is excellent.
