This is a very attractive and unique Japanese Cloisonne vase. It was made by either Namikawa Sosuke or Hattori Tadasaburo. Both were imperial artists. Though unsigned, it can clearly be seen that the enamel work and style are very distinctive. We have owned and sold a number of vases from Sosuke and know this vase has very sophisticated and delicate shading, common to the work of Sosuke. The wireless Egrets have roundish eyes but this could be because the many egrets are smaller in size than on the pair of Sosuke vases we have listed on another page. In our opinion the vase was more likely made by Sosuke. Email us and we will send anyone interested, more images of other signed Sosuke Egrets pieces that support this opinion. The vase also has a pleasing unique shape, measuring 6 inches tall and is 5 1/4 inches wide. It is in perfect condition.
