This is a beautiful Meiji Era Japanese nihon shishu silk panel. The colors are strong and the artistry is masterful. The Cranes are done in a heavy raised relief stitching giving the piece a 3-D look. The panel is a bit wrinkled in the images because it has been stored away. These creases would go away if it were hanging or framed. The look or mood of the piece changes with changing light and is much more impressive in person. Overall the panel is in very good condition and this is a outstanding example of this type of textile art. It has one small area of damage shown in the images and could possibly use a little cleaning. It measures 67 inches long and 48 inches wide.
