This is a unique and very well done Japanese Cloisonne jar, or lidded vase. Both wire and wireless enamel work was used. It stands 5" tall and is a heavy 4-sided piece with a beautifully enameled lid. The body of the vase on all sides is covered with well done Iris and long leaves. Realistic shading and colors are used as well as fine silver wire. At the base is a wire and wireless rock formation that weaves in and out of the Iris. Intricate scrolls at the base lid and top rim area. Metal into the throat, body and lid, as well as on the base. At one time plated with silver but now worn. We believe this piece to be done by Ota but also could be Hayashi. It displays beautifully, but has some very minute enamel missing just under the rim and a tiny nick on the enamel of the top knob(see last image).
