This is an exquisite little Japanese Cloisonne Vase. Done by one of the great masters of cloisonne,Hayashi Kodenji. This little piece has a very high gloss midnight blue ground. The foreground features 5 well executed sparrows done in gold wire. Silver rims, with gold into the throat, and on the base. Engraved on the base "Hayashi Kodenji". It stands 3 1/4" tall. The rim has a slight bend, and just under the top rim is a filled surface rim chip or flake. We had this done over so it is not noticeable. Also there a very tiny circular surface nick on the lower side of the vase. This can be seen in the second to last image. This is a great example of Meiji era cloisonne.
