This is a beautiful rare and rather large Meiji Era piece of Japanese Cloisonne. The raised relief fish and water plants are beautifully done with wonderful detailing. It is signed on the underside but the symbols are very hard to read. Either way we think it was made by Kumeno. The original lid is missing but it has been replaced a more attractive bronze piece with water plants. The Piece measures 7 inches wide and is about 6 3/4 inches tall. Overall the piece is in excellent condition with just tiny bit a bit of discoloration primarily seen on the underside of one foot.
