| This is an outstanding and very lovely Japanese Cloisonne jar or Tea Jar Unique in shape it is a rounded 4-sided jar and lid. Thick silver metal circular insert all the way inside the jar as well as thick metal top rim and lid. High gloss black ground that is covered with large, medium and small very well done and colorful silver wire butterflies. They all have fine tiny silver wire antennae, bodies and the large ones even have tiny intricate silver wire legs. The lid has 3 large butterflies and lots of the tiny ones, done equally as fine as those on the jar. The lid top knob is done in fine enamel work also. Here are tiny flower heads and scrolling vines. Just under the top knob is a band of lavender scroll to look like a fine flowerhead. A wonderfully detailed piece. It measures 5 3/8" tall and is 4 3/4 wide. A very heavy piece also. Condition is excellent with only some slight pitting, common to the Meiji Era pieces and a light 1" scratch. This is a lovely piece, that just glows with the beautiful butterflies against the deep ground. | ||||||||
