Rare Japanese Cloisonne Plique Lidded Bowl
This is a wonderful Japanese Cloisonne lidded bowl, done in the "Plique A Jour" style. It is like having two bowls in one. This piece is unique in its large size measuring 4 7/8" across and is 3 1/2" tall. An array of colorful and bright florals decorate this exquisite bowl both top and bottom. The purple enamels add a fine touch to the piece. It stands on 3 enameled and silver feet. Tarnished outside rims are now look like brass. Inner lid an inside bottom are highly polished. This piece displays wonderfully and has only what we think is one tiny craze line in the red rose on the bottom of the bowl. It does not reach the inside or outer surface. Many plique pieces originally came from the factory, with a craze line or two as they were very very difficult to make. This one is very very tough to see. This is a very rare and beautiful piece.
