Malcolm Wright Bowl
The majority of the body tenmoku glazed, with white center. One tiny chip to outer lip. 5 15/16" diameter x 2 5/8" high. Baring the inscribed mark of Malcolm Wright. Malcolm Wright is an internationally recognized American potter working from Japanese influence. He trained in Vermont, Washington, DC, and Karatsu, Japan where he was apprenticed to Taroueman Nakazato XII and worked directly under Takashi Nakazato. Since 1972 he has worked with his own hand built, massive kiln which he fires only four times a year as each firing requires 30 continuous hours of vigilance and two full cords of wood. Wright has shown extensively in American and Japanese galleries and museums including the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Noyes Museum, the Denver Art Museum, and the Idemitsu Museum in Tokyo.
