Japanese Shigaraki-ware jar Uzukumaru.
Uzukumaru means crouch or squat down, derive the name Uzukumaru from the shape look like a man squat down.

Measurements : W 5 1/2" (14 cm) x H 5 1/4" (13.4 cm) .
Weight about : 1125 grams.
It is in good condition with old chips in the lip as seen in the photos.

Japanese blue-glazed basket-shaped pottery vase by Ito Tozan I.
Ito Tozan I ( 1846 - 1920 ), a ceramic artist in Kyoto, was appointed to a member of the Imperial Arts and Crafts Experts in 1917.
The artist mark "Tozan" on the base.
The date between from the late 19th to the early 20th century.

Size : 8 3/4" x 8 3/8" x H 7 1/2" ( 22.2 x 21.4 x H 19 cm )
It is in good condition, no cracks or repairs, and comes with original wooden box.

The mouth of the jar was warped in the kiln.
Date the late Edo period ( the early to mid 19C ).

Sakigake is a god of learning in Chinese legend.
On the reverse side landscape is depicted in the circle.
Date from the late 19th to the early 20th century.
