Date from the mid to the late Edo Period, 18 - 19 C.

Rare and fine carved lacquer Senbai or Chago is in the shape of a lotus leaf with tortoise.
Japanese green tea Sencha tool Senbai is used in order to fill a teapot with tea leaves.
The lid of the old wooden box says "Tsuishu (Carved cinnabar lacquer) Senbai (scoop for green tea leaves)".

Measurements : 3 1/2" (9cm) by 1 3/4" (4.3cm) and 1 1/4" (3.2cm) tall.

The tray or plate, in the form of octagon-shaped old basket, is carved from wood.
The artist signature "Koseki-saku(made)" is carved on the underside.
Takahashi Koseki was woodcraftsman and active in the first half of the 20th century.

This rare wooden sculpture is a decoration for a roof beam of a temple or a shrine.
It is formed of dragon's head out of the clouds and caved from a single piece of wood.
