This impressive Tokoname ware, covered with bluish glaze, has a distinct design by Yoshikawa Masamichi (b 1946). He has be accepted many exhibitions including the Japan Fine Arts Exhibition (Nitten) and received a number of awards. In 1981, he was awarded the grand prize in the Asahi pottery exhibition. There are two Kamakizu (a scar or crack that happens in a kiln) as shown of the photographs, but Kamakizu do not detract from its value of work. It is in excellent condition and comes with signed and stamped wooden box. Measurements (about) : 4 3/8"(11 cm) tall and 9 7/8" by 9 5/8"(25 x 24.5 cm) across.
