A wonderful 1830's ladies' reticule with a little bit of everything! The purse is fashioned of cream satin and decorated with chain stitched floral embroidery, moss green and dusky pink velvet bands , gold metallic lace, spangles, and beads. The best part is a flip down bottom which hides a mirror within. Green silk lining. There is shattering to the cream silk, especially on the sides. 7” by 7”.

A pair of 18th century embroidered garters, similar in style to the Jerusalem garters worn by 17th century pilgrims. Linen tape embroidered with colored silk thread, with crocheted ends and knotted fringes...

An 18th century green velvet gaming purse embroidered in raised silver metallic thread. Figures include a red Maltese cross; two clasped hands within a snake eating its tail; a wreath; a lion; and various initials. The bottom consists of metallic leaves. Bag is lacking its lining and lacking draw-string; it has several darned repairs below the opening; embroidery to the lion is worn. Measures 7” by 8 1/2”.

Wonderful school girl linen work bag, decorated with ink drawing of flowers and leaves, and signed “Sally Poors”. Probably American, late 18th or early 19th century. Fabric is foxed and stained, with one split. But considering its delicacy, it’s a fabulous piece of early school decorative arts. Measures 10 1/2”.

Fantastic 18th century silver reticule – this little bag has a bit of everything! The body features silver sequins applied to silver thread netting over white silk. The knitted scalloped header is comprised of silver and gold metallic thread. The drawstring is twisted metallic thread with terminal balls made of sequins. Metallic thread tassel. A super purse in good condition some losses to sequins and unraveling to drawstring. Measures 4 1/2” by 2 3/4”.

An 18th century shield shaped velvet purse with couched metal thread embroidery. Vibrant pink lining, silk drawstring and tassel. Very good condition; a few minor spots of wear; one side seam partially undone. Measures 6 3/4” by 5 1/4”.

19th century beaded coin purse, crocheted in crimson silk with cut steel beads and metallic thread border. Fantastic cut steel frame and steel chain. Very good condition; some rust to beads. Measures 3 1/8” by 2 7/8”.

I believe this beautiful beaded piece may be a small table decoration, or napkin. It is a circular panel featuring a vivid wreath of flowers, including a red and a pink rose, bordered by four full layers of different colored fringes. Excellent condition. Measures 6 1/4”.

This little make-do beadwork piece is a mystery to me in two ways – in function and design. My guess is that it’s a pen rest and that the pen nib was intended to sit in the fluted white fixture at one end. The design on one side is a spaniel, but the design looks extremely odd – perhaps a bagpipe? At any rate, it’s a great little piece in good condition – small losses to spaniel, edges and corners. Measures 2 3/8” by 2”.

Pretty burl snuff box commemorating the accession of Louis Phillipe to the French throne, which occurred in 1830. Center medallion features a profile of the king and the words: "L. Phillipe Roi Des (?) Francais/Dehais". Box is lined in tortoise shell or horn. Very good condition; central medallion is somewhat dented. Measures 1 3/4".

Unusual children’s shoes, dating from the first half of the 19th century, probably Turkish. Shoes are leather with gilt metal embroidery, silk tassels, and linen twine. Soles are stamped. Very good condition; they show some wear, especially to soles. Measure 5 7/8”.
