| Fantastic, rare micro beaded chain, possibly made at turn-of-the-century by Ottoman prisoners of war. The piece consists of a chain of playing cards -- every suit and every card -- including illustrated face cards. It is fastened with a decorated brass clasp. Ottoman prisoners of war in British POW camps made many beadwork items to earn money for rations and small necessaries . These beaded items were made either using the beaded crochet technique or weaving on a small loom, and came out of camps in Great Britain, England, France, Greece and Turkey. Measures 51” long. | ||||||
