| Lovely Georgian dragee box, circa the early 19th century. These boxes were usually filled with sugared almonds and were often given at weddings. This box features a glass top displaying a white dove holding an envelope with a heart in its beak. It is surrounded by a flower, a heart and what appears to be a flag, all bordered by a circle of flowers. The box is decorated with gilded card around the sides and a marbled card base. There is some fraying and disintegration to the scene under glass, and some losses to the gilded card but it’s a wonderful object. Measures 3 1/4”. | |||||||
