| Elegant late 19th century cut steel shoe buckles marked “L W Paris”. Bar back. Cut steel jewelry was meant to simulate diamonds; the “stones” were faceted polished steel. Each “stone” had a post in the back which was inserted into a metal base to form a multitude of designs. These buckles are very nicely made; with cut steel, the more facets the better, and these studs have twelve. Good condition; two studs lacking; wear commensurate with age; a few spots of rust, mostly on the reverse. Measure 2 1/4” by 1 7/8”. | |||||||
