| A truly superb antique microbeaded purse featuring an abstract design deriving from either Persian rug motifs or Berlin wool work patterns. The lack of borders surrounding the central medallion -- it is surrounded by flowers and vines instead -- points to the latter. It is a stunning piece composed of richly colored glass beads; Prussian blue for the background, with figures worked in salmon, red, green, cream, and black. Wonderful original frame with flower baskets outside and a monogram (FSW)inside; original rust silk lining with two pockets and a mirror or coin purse attachment (mirror or purse is lacking). Excellent condition: beadwork and frame are perfect; lining is soiled and one pocket beginning to tear at the corner. The purse may have had a fringe at one time.
