| Miniature portrait of a charming lady by Emily Combe, signed and date 1836. The subject wears a pale blue dress with a wide lace collar tied with bows, and a matching bonnet on her hair. Foskett lists a Miss E. Combe (fl.1834-1840) of London who exhibited at the Royal Academy and Society of British Artists. This portrait is painted in watercolor on card and set in a hammered brass frame. Measures 5” sight size; just over 6 ¾” framed. Very good condition: wood back of frame is cracked through at the bottom; glass is chipped at 5 o’clock; tiny brownish mark above her left shoulder at 10 o’clock. | |||||||
