| Superb portrait miniature in watercolor on ivory of a lovely lady, by Scottish artist Andrew Robertson, ca 1825. Set in a gilt metal pendant case with patterned mat; 1 3/8". Andrew Robertson (1777-1845) was brother to miniaturist Archibald Robertson, and miniature painter to the Duke of Sussex. His patrons also included George IV and colleagues such as Benjamin West and Sir Thomas Lawrence and John Trumbull. Excellent condition; one small missing flake of paint or chip to edge at 11 o'clock. Measures 1 ¾” by 1 ½”. | ||||||
