A most spectacular Austro-Hungarian chatelaine, encrusted with garnets pearls and enamel work, circa 1890. This wonderful piece came from the Florida estate of a diplomat’s wife. She supposedly wore this when socializing with heads of state – it was her answer to their medals and decorations! The chatelaine is composed of seven links; three are the same pattern and size, the rest are all different. Though there’s much wear to the enamel, to the piece in general, and a few missing pearls, it looks ancient and regal, just as the owner had intended! Measures 8 ¼” long.
