Stunning 19th century Austro-Hungarian Renaissance Revival set, comprising brooch and bracelet in enamel, pearl, paste and marcasite on silver. The brooch features a central luscious pink paste stone ringed by small cut marcasites, ringed by black enamel half circles, ringed by alternating black and white scallops. The central circular panel is flanked one each side by eye-shaped panels featuring a large central pearl ringed by marcasites, alternating black and white enamel half circles, black enamel set with yellow and green pastes, marcasites, and alternating black and white enamel half circles. Rings upon rings of vibrant design, and yet they all work together to create a beautiful opulent jewel! The bracelet is spectacular: The central panel, like the brooch features a large pink paste. This is surrounded by marcasites, alternating black and white enamel half circles, and, finally, white enamel scallops. The eight bracelet links each feature a central colored paste – peridot, sapphire, citrine, amethyst and emerald – surrounded by marcasites and alternating black and white half circles. The bracelet reverse features lovely silver filigree. A rare and beautiful set, a cut above most Austro-Hungarian pieces. Good condition; some missing marcasites and tiny chips to enamel. Brooch measures 3 1/4” by 1 1/4”; bracelet is 7 3/4” with the central panel 1 3/16” in diameter.
