| Rare Wedgwood and Bentley jasper cameo silver mounted ring, circa 1779, depicting a gentleman in profile. The oval pale blue medallion is layered with white between the black ground surface upon which the profile sits. The reverse is inscribed “Wedgwood x Bentley”, a mark used from 1769-1780, when Josiah Wedgwood partnered with Thomas Bentley to establish a factory named 'Etruria' for making ornamental wares. This mark was used on smaller seals, cameos and intaglios. Very good condition; slight chip to pale blue at six o’clock. Ring size 7 1/4. | |||||||
