| Miniature portrait in watercolor on ivory of a young gentleman, labeled “Gentleman c 1800”, attributed to Anne Foldsone Mee (1770-1851). Mee was a pupil of George Romney and Richard Cosway. By the time she was twenty, she was fully employed by the Prince of Wales. She was an expensive and successful miniaturist; portraits of men by Mee are scarce. Measures 4 ¼” by 3 ¾”; sight size 2 ¼”. Wonderful condition (apologies for glare!). | ||||||
