Circa 1940's oil study of playing children (artist's grandchildren), by Edmund Franklin Ward (1892-1991). Size; 32" x 24", condition very good. Authenticated and signed on the back by granddaughter of the artist.

E. F. Ward was born in White Plains, New York, where he spent most of his career and where he also painted a mural for the Federal Building. He studied at the Art Students League with Norman Rockwell with whom he shared a studio. Among his teachers at the League were Thomas Fogarty, Edward Dufner, and George Bridgman. He was a member of the Salmagundi Club, the Guild of Freelance Artists, and a member of the Society of Illustrators.
