Kingston Bay Gallery
Circa 1940's oil study of playing children (artist's grandchildren), by Edmund Franklin Ward (1892-1991). Size; 32" x 24", condition very good. Authenticated and signed on the back by granddaughter of the artist. Provenance: artist's estate. E. F. Ward was born in White Plains, New York, where he spent most of his career and where he also painted a mural for the Federal Building. He studied at the Art Students League with Norman Rockwell with whom he shared a studio. Among his teachers at the League were Thomas Fogarty, Edward Dufner, and George Bridgman. He was a member of the Salmagundi Club, the Guild of Freelance Artists, and a member of the Society of Illustrators. Source: "The Illustrator in America" by Walt Reed.
