AGE: Early Art Deco (Pre-1920's).
SIZE: 9" high by approx. 6"+ wide!
CONDITION: Excellent, No Damages or Repairs. Artglass piece of EXCEPTIONAL QWUALITY!!!
This superfine example of "CONTROLLED" or "FIXED" BUBBLE technique is attributed to Josef Hoffmann, the famous Bohemian artist who worked for Loetz among other glasshouses in the area. The vases done in this technique were made of thick glass with bubbles on the inside - not even ONE TINY BUBBLE could burst through the outer or inner smooth side, or the vase would be ruined!!! Super - complex technique, extremely difficult to make without defects! If someone has the opportunity to check the GENEVA AUCTION Catalogs for the last decade, an IDENTICAL vase was sold within that time frame for $1,500!
***CHARLIE FROM Pa, THIS IS YOUR INFO., REMEMBER?!!***
One of my Close-Ups show a book reference to a similar vase, also attributed to Hoffmann.
