AGE: according to experts, 19th C. or older
(possibly 18th Century!).
CONDITION: Excellent, no damages or repairs!!
This figurine is from the very rare & famous set "Commedia del'Arte" (if my spelling is correct) by the great Bustelli (Nymphenburg). Originally made in the 18th Century, the set was repeated in several later editions. However, this figurine is believed to be of the early make - I was explained that later makes were painted more elaborately, especially her SKIRT - while the original Donna Martina wore a plain pink skirt, like mine, later makes wore elaborately decorated skirts. There are other factors that also suggest an early edition. Superfine detail, typical Bustelli pose, marked on the bottom with impressed "shield" and some numbers, also another "shield" mark impressed into the top of base, next to foot (see pics. 4 & 5).
