| Measuring 6 1/2" in length, and 4" in height, this little red velvet box is covered in gilt "tinsel" decorations consisting of cross bars, blue glass "jewels" and two sizes of silver and enamel pharonic heads. I suspect this is a Grand Tour souvenir, or a souvenir item, perhaps German in origin dating from one of the eras of Egyptomania, in the second half of the Nineteenth Century. The entire piece is in superb, bright and fresh condition, with a gold fabric interior. What a find! | ||||||||
