| Harriet Frishmuth (American 1880-1980), "The Vine, 1921", bronze on marble base, wonderful green patina, excellent condition. Inscribed along edge of base "19c21 Harrit W. Frishmuth", ht. 12". Beware there are inferior castings of this work, this is all around excellent condition! Highly sought after work by this master, who studied in Paris with Rodin. NOTE: One of Frishmuth's most commercially successful models, The Vine was awarded the Shaw Memorial Prize at the National Academy of Design in 1923. Desha, the artist's most frequently used model, and Renee Wilde, another dancer and model of Frishmuth's, posed for the work. | |
