William Eggleston, a well known pioneer of color photography , has also worked in recent years on drawing. This is a circa 1990 colored felt pen drawing, measuring 7" x 7". The work was executed on a 1938 Richard Strauss Opera book. Eggleston has been known to execute these drawings on any paper available. Its not surprising, given Eggleston's talent for playing classical piano, that he might draw this work on such a program booklet (Richard Strauss DAPHNE - Vienna State Opera Chorus). Work is in excellent condition, with exception of 1/4" minor tear upper center. These drawings are rare objects by an Internationally acclaimed master American artist.
