Large painted Pottery Model of a Lion, Tang Dynasty (618-907 C.E.) Seated on its haunches with a teeth-baring expression on face. Covered with white slip and traces of pigment remaining. Bulbous eyes carved in deep relief. Teeth and fangs are defined as is tongue. Wide nostrils, mane in cascading detail on the back with tail curled around lower body.
