Luristan Bronze Horse, collection of Teddy Kollek

Splendid Lurisan Bronze of a Saddled Horse, Ancient Iran, ca. 1000 - 800 BCE. Small bulbous eyes, flowing mane and tail and standing on four legs. Beautiful patina from age and intact and on custom stand. 2" high x 3" long. Ex: Mayor Teddy Kollek, First Mayor of Unified Jerusalem. Theodor "Teddy" Kollek was an Israeli who served as the mayor of Jerusalem from 1965 to 1993, and founder of the Jerusalem Foundation. Kollek was re-elected five times, in 1969, 1973, 1978, 1983 and 1989. For a long time, Iran was an important center of metalworking in the ancient world. Luristan bronze ware covers a wide range of categories: functional and religious, ceremonial and ritual objects, personal decorations, ornaments, and various vessels.
