Egyptian Bronze Votive Statuette of Apis Bull, ca. 6th-4th Century BCE. Small bronze votive statues were made as offerings and as an expression of devotion from the worshipper who hoped for a blessing. The Egyptians believed that Apis, the sacred bull of Memphis, was the incarnation of Ptah, the god of craftsmen. The sun disk in Egyptian culture, as in many other ancient cultures, was considered a representation of divinity. Bull is finely carved with etching of a tasseled covering on his back. 1 7/8" in height and 3" in height on custom stand.
