Cypriot Bichrome Pottery Bowl

Cypriot Bichrome Pottery Bowl, Iron Age, Cypro-Archaic Period ca. 750 - 600 BC. Small attached handles with alternating bands of red and black on cream slip. A band of concentric circles around shoulder. Professional repair to rim with few small chips due to age and wear. Otherwise, in very good condition. 7 inches high. Found in the Holy Land. Cyprus draws influence from many nations. During the Archaic period, Assyria, Egypt, and Persia (lands located along the fertile crescent) demonstrated their influence on pottery by introducing the "Free Field Style", an expressive technique that focuses on the depiction of agriculture.
