Moche II Jaguar God Stirrup Vessel, Peru circa 100 - 300 CE. In transition from human to jaguar, with bared fangs and stylized hair he stalks prey. Intact and in excellent condition. 7" high. Ex: Jean-Eugene Lions collection, Geneva. The Pre-Columbian culture knew various jaguar gods, in addition to jaguar demi-gods, (ancestral) protectors, and transformers.
