J. LeChevallier 1896-1987 woodcut "St. George" 1943 Fr.

This original wood engraving of St George"patron of English soldiers and scouts was published by Henri LeFabvre in occupied Paris circa 1943. Issued as one of twelve prints from his portfolio "Les Patrons des Metiers." The artist, Jacques LeChevallier, who designed and carved this woodblock, was a member of the Society of Decorative Artists, Salon d'Automne and a founding member of the Union of Modern Artists (UAM)in 1929. He was a French glass maker, decorative artist, illustrator and engraver. Condition is described as bright and good, unframed with minor defects to border not image. See photos. Dimensions 15.75"x12.5"
