| Meant to be worn with the circular piece off to one side (as shown), this extraordinary necklace features 46 seperate elements dating from the 7th century B.C. to the first millenium A.D. Specifically, there are 25 tubular beads in bone, shell, and hardstone (some possibly nephrite) dating to the Han Dynasty (206 B.C.- 220 A.D.) or earlier; 2 tubular beads, also Han Dynasty or earlier, in what appears to be fossilized ivory; 8 shaped bone beads circa the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 B.C.); 10 Yuan Dynasty (1279 - 1368) or earlier glass beads in various colors; a grey-green soft stone circular element, possiby a Bi, circa Spring and Autumn Period. All have been strung from a Kumihimo cord hand woven for them by Jan Prichard Cohen. Note: Circular element has been waxed to minimize the appearance of efflorescence. Total length of strand is 75cm (29.5"); beads range from .5cm to 2.5 cm (.2" to just shy of 1"); "Bi" measures 3.75 cm in diameter (1.48 ") Feel free to request additional photos. All antique, ancient, or archaic metallic elements have been authenticated, conserved, and protected so that they may be worn without fear of causing harm.
