A nineteenth century menuki mounted onto a “one size fits all” silver bracelet. The piece depicts two shishi, a mother and child. Menuki originate from the handle of a Japanese samurai sword to aid with grip and serve as symbolic décor. A matching pair is attached to the hilt of the sword and is then covered by silk string braided around the handle. They are made of iron, inlaid with silver and overlaid with high karat gold. This menuki is in excellent condition, creating a delicately detailed bracelet. A beautiful reinvention of an antique that surely retains the integrity of the Japanese culture. Dimensions: ~3” x ~2.5” x ~0.50” |
