This is a pair of shibuchi alloy menuki featuring quivers of arrows. Each menuki is slightly worn with age and has gold overlay details. Circa 1700.
Placed on the tsuka, or handle of the Japanese sword to aid with gripping, menuki serve as a useful and decorative piece. Menuki are attached to the hilt of the sword, and then are covered by silk string braided around the handle. There are two menuki located on either side of the handle that add to the overall theme of the sword decor. Dimensions: 0.5" wide x 1.5” long PLEASE NOTE that we are a working gallery. No on will be available to answer questions on the weekends. |
