This finely detailed pottery figure is shaped as Okame, the goddess of mirth and prosperity. Okame is often portrayed with a wide variety of objects. Here, she is holding a large mushroom. There are a host of possible areas in Japan from which this piece might have originated . It has many layers of patina and dates to the 19th century. There is an impressed signature on the right sleeve of her robe. Excellent condition. Dimensions: 5 ½” x 4” x 2”
