|Description: A Japanese bronze incense burner, "koro", in the form of a seated "Kirin". Said to live in paradise, the Kirin personifies all that is good, pure and peaceful and can live to be one thousand years old. Normally gentle, it can become fierce if a pure person is threatened by a sinner, spouting flames from its mouth and body and lightning bolts from its hooves. Date: Edo period: 18th/19th century Size: 10" high, 12" wide. Excellent condition.|
