A Gwangmok-Cheon Wang of 4 Havenly Kings (King of the West): Korea, Unified Silla Dynasty (668-935), This Gwangmok-Cheon Wang is one of Four Hevenly Kings (Four Kings; Jiguk Cheon, Jeungjang Cheon, Gwangmok Cheon and Damun Cheion) in Buddhism, and King of the West. He sees through evil. Discens/ punishes badness. Encourages aspirations of enlightenment. .This is one of extremely rare Korean Buddhist sculptures in ceramic, a square form with heavy and moulded in clay, very good condition without any noticeable damages, measures 19.5¡±x 19.5¡± x 4¡± approx. ******The Four Heavenly Kings are the remarkable beings that protect the four corners of the world. In Chinese Buddhism, they are popularly known as the Great Dharma Protectors, seen in the shrines of the Matreiya Buddha. The Four Heavenly Kings have the power to control the weather and climate on Earth. They each carry a distinctive magical weapon that represents the source of their supernatural powers. When you invite these images into your homes, they are said to afford protection against pernicious attacks that may be aimed at you.Two of the Heavenly Kings have friendly faces and fair colored complexion. The other two show a more ferocious and darker appearance. This represents that the GOODNESS in this world must be taught and implemented both through gentle and authoritative means
