A Korean Fine Black Lacquered Wood Cosmetic Accessory Box (Bitjup)-19th C.:
Korea, Joseon dynasty, 19th century
Square, set on a square stand carved with four bracket feet and scalloped aprons covered bt
brownish black on the front, it’s covered by unusual black
lacquered paper with a moulded floral decoration over the four square sides except
for a front, especially each drawer was painted in ink with a wild orchid in and out sides,
fitted with a large upper and lower drawer and two smaller drawers with each drawer has
a Chinese chacter in the middle, the two pulls on the large drawers in the form of a stylized bats.
It’s in very fine condition with a brownish black patina.
Measurements: 11 3/8” h. x 10 ½” w.x 10 3/8” d. (28.8cm x 26.7cm x 26.4cm)
