A Very Fine/Rare Korean Wood Carved Seated Amitabha Buddha: 19th C. Korea, Joseon dynasty, 19th century. Seated shyanasana with left hand held in the gesture of consolation with a middle finger, the head titled slightly forward and the eyes downcast, the hair arranged in row of black snail-shell coils surmounted by a tall, gilded unisa (rubbed) and whole body, an inlaid urna between the brows, the drapery modelled in flowing folds and upright pleats across the torso, the flat base bare wood and cut with a square revealing the hollow interior, hands detachable. It’s in fine condition with some gilding rubbed with appreas red pigment. it measures 23” h. x 17” w. x 16” d. (59cm x 43cm x 41cm ).
