| A Fine Scholar’s Wood Ink-Stone Box (Yon-Sang): Korea, Choson period, 19th Century, This is a simple, but beautiful and functional ink-stone box with a dark brown patina in and outsides. Please see its craftsmanship carving in its legs and a second tier drawer carved with horizontal groove. This three tiered ink-stone box stored; ink sticks, water droppers, brushes and books. The open shelf at the bottom allowed books, or rolls of paper to be immediately accessible. Its simple beauty and function are one example of Choson period’s art craftsmanship in Korea. It is in all original shape and parts but one tiny part of leg restuck with an original piece, otherwise it is in fine condition without any noticeable damage. It measures 16 1/8”x 11 1/8”x 10 3/8”h. | ||
