A Very Fine Punchong Bottle Painted with Iron Black: Korea, Early Choson period, 15th -16th Century, This is a rare painted with iron-brown punchong bottle of a pear-form well balanced on a tall foot with waisted neck ending in a wide mouth, freely painted in under glaze iron-black with stylized floral sprays and large lappets and incised parallel lines, brushed overall with white slip and covered by a glossy celadon-type glaze. It has a mouth restored, otherwise fine condition. It measures 12 1/4” h. *** Please see a very similar Punchong bottle sold at Christie’s, N.Y., April 22, 1992, pl. #19 and April 24, 1997, pl. #20
