A Very Rare and Fine Wood Carved Document Holder: Korea, late Choson Dynasty, 19th Century, This is a very rare and fine hard wood document holder carved overall with 10 symbols of longevity, Shipjangsang, (Sun, Pine, Turtle, Deer, Sacred Fungus, Crane, Bamboo, Water, rocks and clouds), it is in cylindrical shape with a good patina associated with use and age, and open-cover cap at the end. It is in very fine condition with an old natural dark brown patina overall. It measures 28cm x 4.3cm. or 11” x 1 3/4” approximately. *** A very similar Korean wood carved tubular shape document holder but different subject carved decoration sold at Christies’, New York, Korean Art of the Robert Moore Collection, 28 March 2006, p 511, lot #510.
