| An Extremely Rare Pair of Carved/Papered Wedding Ducks; Korea, late 19th Century, Dated 1874, Described and Carver named Kim Han Soo This pair of solid (Paulawnia) wood carved, dotted in red (groom) and green (bridegroom) body painted with light polychrome pigments over paper and then oiled. Each duck bears 4 large letter poems and one of them has a date (1874) and name of caver (Kim Han Soo) with 2 red seals. Especially, with a date and description are not a common in Korean wedding ducks. This pairs were made by a very artistic skilled person for a Royall family wedding ceremony presumably in late Choson (Yi) dynasty. It also bears an old natural patina over the body. It is extremely rare as a Korean weding ducks with a date, named and poems. It is in very fine condition without any damages. It measures 10 1/4” x 8 1/2” (26cm x 21.5cm) | ||
