This is a wooden mask of woman, called Otafuku or Okame used in the Shinto music and dance numbers which is held in local shrines, or in the comedy. This is a wooden jizaikagi ( hook ) which was hung over "irori". Irori is a sunken flat square fireplace which is placed in the center of a living room in the traditional country house. Ema was dedicated to a temple or a shrine and it used to be a picture of a horse or wooden horse, but other motifs were added later. This horse has pieces of the ornamental cloth.
