This is a glass painting, which is painting with clay paint or oil paint on the backside of the glass plate. It was popular in the mid Edo period ( 18th century ). The motif of this painting is "Korofune ( Black Ship )" which came to Japan from western countries between 16th and the former 19th century and called "Black Ship" as it was painted in black. In excellent condition in a wooden frame. The former half of the 19th century. Measurement of the frame:56cm x 38.5cm

This is an ema which literally means " a tablet with a painting of horse" and on which people write wishes and dedicate it to a shrine. This ema has the name of the woman who dedicated and the date, Bunka 3, Shogatsu 18 nichi ( January 18th 1806, late Edo period ) on both sides. In good condition but has some parts faded. 70.5cm x 43.5cm x 3.8cm
